Two-time Grand Slam champion and world No. 2 Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan powered into the quarterfinals of the WTA-1000 clay court tournament in Rome, Italy. In the fourth round, Rybakina defeated former world No. 1 (now ranked 130th) Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic with a commanding score of 6:0, 6:2.


The match lasted just 59 minutes. Rybakina delivered one ace, committed three double faults, and converted six of nine break points. Pliskova, meanwhile, hit two aces, had five double faults, and converted one of three break point opportunities.
Rybakina’s next opponent will be world No. 10 Elina Svitolina of Ukraine, who is seeded seventh in the tournament.
