Getafe faces a pivotal week that could determine their European ambitions. The blue team will take on Mallorca and Elche in two matches that will decide whether a spot in continental competition remains within reach or slips away.

After a frustrating 0-0 draw against Real Oviedo at the Carlos Tartiere, Getafe left with a bitter taste. Despite playing against a reduced Oviedo side for most of the second half—and even facing nine men after Sibo’s red card—the visitors failed to break through goalkeeper Aarón Escandell. Although they still hold a place in the Conference League spots, they regretted missing the chance to capitalize on stumbles by Real Sociedad and Athletic Club.

With 45 points, the blue team knows their fate remains in their own hands as they pursue a fourth season in European competition. Three matches remain, two of which will be played in quick succession: Wednesday and Sunday.

The upcoming fixtures are Mallorca at the Coliseum and Elche at the Martínez Valero. Both opponents are currently battling to avoid relegation. Mallorca visits Getafe’s home ground aiming to secure their survival, while Elche will likely look to do the same against the Madrid-based side, depending on midweek results.

“We need to make this point count on Wednesday,” a source from the Getafe locker room said after the match. The team will be without Abdel Abqar, who received his fifth yellow card and will miss the clash against Demichelis’ side.
